Hey! I know I’ve been a little light on the posts this month on the blog, for which I apologize, but will be remedying that situation soon! The reason there haven’t been any workout recaps this month is that I haven’t really been working out. While I haven’t been doing my usual stuff (yoga, running, etc), I have been hiking out through the wood checking sap buckets and then hauling those suckers for the long-ass walk back to the truck. And those buckets are HEAVY. So, while I’m not “working out” per se, I’ve still been a little more active than just living that couch potato life.
But, maple syrup season is just about wrapped up for us! We pulled our taps this past weekend and processed the last of our sap down to syrup. We still have to put it into the finished bottles and get them labeled, but the days of spending all my time outside around the sap cooker are over. Maple syrup-ing is kind of an all-consuming adventure, so it doesn’t always leave a lot of space for other things to get done.
I took a pretty hard look at this past month and have been a little disappointed with my progress towards my goals this year. I’ve done very little meal planning, and I haven’t really been eating the healthiest. I haven’t really worked on any of my goals, and obviously fell a little behind on blogging. So I am going to spend this last week in February doing a little planning and prepping, so that I can go into March with a fresh outlook on things.
I hear a lot of talk about plant-based diets, and while I’m not going 100% plant-based or vegan, I am going to attempt to do the following for the month of March and see how I feel after.
-During the week, I’m going to start my day with a smoothie using fruits, veggies, non-dairy milk, and protein and collagen powder. I also like to throw some chia seeds into the mix as well most days. I will follow it up with a plant-filled lunch using either stir-fried veggies or a big salad. I may add in some grains here, possibly rice or quinoa, and then only eat meat at dinner. On weekends, I’ll give myself a little more wiggle room, adding eggs in the morning and possibly meat at lunch, but we will have to see on that. I’m also going to focus on getting back to my gluten-free habits because it’s time to quit slacking! I’m also going to actually take my vitamins and stuff instead of looking at them in my cabinet every day.
-Getting up a little earlier and getting a workout in, especially during the weekdays. A few years ago, I found The Betty Rocker and tried her 30-day challenge. Since I was awful about sticking to things, I never made it through, so I am going to give it another shot in March. I also want to start running again, and adding yoga back in for sure!
-Lastly, I’ve been shit on taking care of my skin this past couple of months. So I want to focus on exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing. Because my skin is currently a bit of a mess, so I need to get that taken care of ASAP
