Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Summer is more than officially here and I’ve been loving it (for the most part!). I’ve been enjoying the sunny weather but hating the humidity, but that just comes along with the territory when you live in the Midwest. I haven’t talked too much about them on the blog yet, but if you’ve followed along on my Instagram, you know that I have three dogs, Kaycee, Axel, and Sunnie. Kaycee is 14(ish), Axel is going to be four next month, and Sunnie is about 2(ish). They’re pretty good dogs, but occasionally I occasionally put them in their kennels when we have people over, and when I do I like to give them stuffed Kong toys to keep them occupied.

Since the temperatures have been topping out in the mid-90’s every day, I decided to take one of my tried and true Kong stuffing recipes and turn them into frosty yogurt bites for the dogs to have. It’s super easy, takes only three ingredients, and is actually pretty good for your pup!

You’ll need the following:

-Yogurt (I like using Greek yogurt because it has less lactose than regular yogurt, so dairy sensitivities aren’t as much of a concern)
-Blueberries (high in antioxidants, so good for your pups)
-Small dog treats ( I tried these, from an STL based company, Etta Says)
-Ice cube tray (I got mine from a local pet boutique, but here and here are some options from Amazon)

I start by dropping the frozen berries and treats into the ice cube tray. Then I spoon yogurt on top, smoothing with a small spatula as I go. I add more yogurt when I need it and make sure it’s fairly level before I pop it into the freezer.

I freeze them for at least 4 to 6 hours before I tap them out of the tray and then store them in a bag in the freezer. I don’t feed them every day, and I usually only give one or two to each dog as a snack. Let me know if you would like more homemade recipes for your furry friends and if you tried these dog treats for summer!
