Thank God it’s finally Friday! Do you ever have those weeks that seem to rush by but drag all at the same time? That’s what this week has felt like. I spent most of Tuesday thinking it was Wednesday and part of Thursday thinking it was also Wednesday! Whoops…But with the minutes ticking down to the official 3:30 start of the weekend, I thought I’d drop a post about what I’m listening to lately.
I’ve always been a big music lover (hello, band nerd status!). I have a pretty eclectic playlist in my music app on my iPhone and an even more eclectic station selection on Pandora. And trust me, I definitely pay to not have to listen to ads! I remember in high school, and I’m totally dating myself with this, having multiple CD folios in my car. When I got my first new car a few months into college, power windows and a CD player were top boxes to be ticked off. Fast forward to a few years ago, when I discovered podcasts and life hasn’t been the same.
Heck, I’ve even been paying for the Audible app so I can listen to audiobooks!
What I’m listening to
My top two podcasts recently that I’ve been clicking on in my library are the Generation Why and Morbid. Both these are true crime-related shows and we all know I’m a sucker for that genre! Morbid is hosted by Ash and Alaina, and they do not disappoint. Marrying the macabre with humor, they deep dive into cases and tell hauntingly funny tales.
Generation Why is hosted by Aaron & Justin, who dissect cases and offer their opinions. I think they’re one of the first true crime podcasts out there, so clearly they’ve got something working for them. I like the limited ads within the podcast, so there isn’t much skipping ahead happening.
I recently downloaded A Discovery of Witches to my Audible library and have been listening to it on my way to and from work, interspersed with music and podcasts. I can’t lie though, I also bought the first season of the TV show on Prime Video as well. So far, I’m really liking both! If you have a long commute as I do, definitely consider adding audiobooks to your listening regimen.
Songs on Repeat
Crank That (Travis Barker Remix)-Ok, this song is a perfect addition to add to your gym playlist! The Travis Barker remix just provides the right mix of rap and rock, making it great for cardio or weight lifting.
Pills by Denim Blue & Miclain Keith-So I actually read about this song in a book and looked it up to see if it was real. It obviously is and it’s amazing! Add it to your playlist immediately.
State Lines by Novo Amor-Rounding out this little group of songs is State Lines. I’m sure if you’ve ever been on TikTok you’ve heard this one. It’s just so chill, perfect for relaxing too.
That wraps up this quick Friday read! Let me know if there is anything I need to add to my Audible library or my current playlists!
