Month Three Check-In

And just like that, I’m at the halfway point in my 6-month journey/challenge/quest to take a more active role in my life. I’m here with my month three check-in, in which I continued my journaling practice to focus on my mental health. I also tried out a new time-blocking method and worked on my health from the inside. So, without further ado, let’s jump into the month three check-in.

What Went Well

Time blocking! I tried out time blocking this past month as a way to keep myself more on track throughout the day. I do work a regular 40-hour-a-week job, and I decided that is where I would start using time blocking. My work day starts at 7 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m. I use the first 30 minutes and last 30 minutes of each day to go over what I need to do for the day and then wrap up any tasks that I didn’t quite get done or need to schedule out for the following day. That’s been going well for me, so I think I will start to expand my time blocking a bit more during the week to my time at home. But not on weekends, because everyone needs a little freedom and flexibility.

I also managed to do a bit of menu planning and meal prep this month. Menu planning makes my life ten times easier, I know this. It’s definitely something I want to get back on track with for the next half of my challenge. When I have all the small things sorted out, it’s a lot easier to focus on the bigger goals.

What Didn’t Go So Great

Obviously, menu planning! But other than that, last month was quite alright. I have let my journaling slide a bit, but I’m working on getting that back into the swing of things.

What’s Next

We’re well into my next set of 30 days, so I’ve started a few things already. I’ve been adding in walks, even though I haven’t been in a little over a week. We’ve been cleaning out our old house, with some considerations of turning it into a rental property. Time will tell on that one. So while I haven’t been walking, I’ve been meeting my activity goals each day with the work we’ve been doing on the house.

Secondly, I really need to get my journaling groove back! I can tell that I’ve been getting in my own head more often lately. The fact that we’ve been working on the old house each night has led to some late nights getting to bed so that probably isn’t helping either. But hopefully, soon, the late, late nights will be behind us!

As always, the idea is to build on what I’m doing. So little by little we are making progress, even if it seems like we are only sitting still, or even going backward! And with that, I’ll wrap up my month three check-in and chat with you soon!
