Looking Back at 2023

And here we are, practically halfway through January! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve/Day and so far, have been having a great 2024. I, unfortunately, spent the first week of January fighting a respiratory infection and was down for the count for a few days. Never fear though, after a trip to urgent care and a course of antibiotics, I am well on my way to wellness. I’ve been loving everyone year in review posts that have been all over Instagram and TikTok and thought I’d do my version here on the blog. So without further ado, here’s to looking back at 2023!

January, February, March, April

January, February, and March were filled with snow days, absurd amounts of coffee, and tons of hockey games. The end of March saw us off to the Windy City to see my beloved Blues take on the Blackhawks. We spent a little less than 24 hours in Chicago, but we made the most of it with tons of sightseeing and loads of good food. In April, I took the plunge back into fashion hair color and made my 16-year-old heart happy by coloring my hair blue.

May, June, July, August

In May we traveled up to Iowa for my nephew’s first birthday! His personality is coming out stronger each time I see him, which is exciting. The month of June saw my flowers blooming, and we spent every day working on renovating our old house to turn it into a rental property. It was a massive undertaking, but we got it done, somehow. July was pretty quiet and August saw us heading back to NOLA for a second time! We took an amazing cooking class, hit up so many restaurants, and just had a fantastic time in general.

September, October, November, December

September rolled around and saw my return to running with my first 5k in ages. This year, instead of heading to ABQ for the Balloon Fiesta, we headed to the London Tea Room and got back into the swing of hockey season. November was all about the holidays and pie making (hello pecan pie!). December was filled with holiday shopping, hockey, and dinners out with friends.

Looking back at 2023, I’d say it was a pretty alright year. Of course, there are always areas to improve upon. And now that we are firmly ensconced in January, it’s time to start thinking about my intentions for the rest of the year. You might have noticed that the home page of this little site got a bit of a facelift! I’m also fully aware that the whole intentions-setting thing should probably have happened before now, but, oh well! C’est la vie!

I, for one, am looking forward to an even better 2024! I’m continuing my quest of living my life versus letting it pass me by. Stay tuned, because I have lots of fun, delicious, and magical things coming to this little space!
